Performance Santa Fe
Festival of Song Nicholas Brownlee and Elena Villalon with Robert Tweten

This season’s second Festival of Song recital welcomes two dazzling singers to the stage— Nicholas Brownlee, bass-baritone, and Elena Villalón, soprano. First prize winner of the Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition, Nicholas Brownlee has distinguished himself through his “commanding presence” and “rich tone” (Musical America). Brownlee returns to the Santa Fe Opera this year as Kurwenal in Tristan und Isolde. He is joined by Cuban-American soprano Elena Villalón, a celebrated opera performer, recitalist, and third-year studio artist with Houston Grand Opera. A Grand Finals winner of the 2019 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, Villalón is lauded for her artistic and expressive vocal technique– “a radiance in which one could simply bask contentedly” (Washington Classical Review). This summer, she makes her role and house debut at the Santa Fe Opera as Nanetta in Verdi’s Falstaff.
PSF’s Festival of Song presents rising and established stars of the opera world in intimate one-hour recitals at the Scottish Rite Temple. Each performance is followed by a reception in the Grand Ballroom where you are invited to meet the artists over drinks and desserts.
