Musical Roots: Music From Africa and the Americas

M4E_960960

Our Roots. Our Vitality. Our Music.
Our annual Music for Everyone benefit concert will feature music from Africa and the Americas. Join us for a spectacular showcase of our ensembles in jazz, mariachi, orchestra and chamber music, sharing music that has come from a lineage of cultures across the world, including Nigerian musician Fela Kuti, Arturo Marquez, Nubian oudist Hamza El Din, and others. The concert will culminate in the four-movement “Afrika Suite” arranged by Jeremy Bleich, Christopher Ishee, and Ryan Finn.

SFYSA student musicians come together from more than 40 different schools in the area to practice excellence, discover new music and enjoy different genres of music and full orchestras. SFYSA has the only option for youth to play in a full orchestra (winds, strings and percussion) in Santa Fe. All of our programs are offered at low and sliding scale fees. Reaching across socio-economic and cultural barriers that often divide us, we bring our community together with music. Your support is vital. Please join us to see us all getting better together.
