Performance Santa Fe
Swanson and Taylor
Almaviva and Papageno together at last! Former Santa Fe Opera Apprentices Jack Swanson and Benjamin Taylor return this season in two of opera’s most iconic roles. Following recent principal debuts with Los Angeles Opera, Norwegian Opera, and Glyndebourne, Jack Swanson will present Schumann’s Dichterliebe to kick off this year’s Festival of Song Series. With a distinctive high lyric voice, perfectly suited to the acrobatic arias of Rossini, he is quickly becoming one of the most sought-after young tenors in the opera world. Joining Swanson is booming baritone Benjamin Taylor, who is making his Santa Fe principal debut as Papageno in The Magic Flute after two successful seasons as an Apprentice Artist. A recent graduate of the prestigious Pittsburgh Opera Resident Artist Program, Taylor returns to Pittsburgh this season for his principal debut in Carmen.
