Future Voices Next Generation Native Film Showcase celebrates the work of youth, first-time, and emerging Native filmmakers. There is no age limit to submit. We use “Next Generation” to describe filmmakers who are beginning to develop their voices, perspectives, and practices in film and media. We welcome short films under 12 minutes, including narrative, documentary, experimental, animation, and hybrid works. We also encourage filmmakers with longer films to submit. This year’s festival will include screenings of the selected films and a Q&A panel.
Screening Fee & Additional Screening Opportunities
Selected filmmakers will receive a modest screening fee for the presentation of their work in the Next Generation Native Film Showcase. The screening fee provided is a one-time fee. From time to time, Next Generation Native Films is invited to present the showcase at additional educational and nonprofit venues, including schools, tribal communities, universities, and other community-based spaces. If your film is selected for an additional screening opportunity, we will notify you directly and an additional screening fee is not guaranteed. If you do not wish to have your film considered for these additional educational or nonprofit screenings, please let us know when you submit your film.
