Rural Arts Residency

The Rural Arts Residency offers opportunities for schools and organizations across Northern New Mexico to connect with professional artists through engaging, hands-on performing arts experiences.

The Lensic is coordinating the tour during the week of February 22–27, 2027, and inviting rural schools and community organizations to participate free of charge. Performances are approximately 45 minutes.

2025 Rural Arts Residency

In October 2025, we piloted the new Rural Arts Residency in collaboration with Las Cafeteras. From October 19–28, the residency traveled across northern New Mexico, bringing storytelling workshops, community concerts, and student matinees directly to rural communities, including El Rito, Ojo Caliente, Ranchos de Taos, and Pecos. The week was bookended by two performances of the band’s Day of the Dead show, Hasta La Muerte.
