Lifetime Achievement Award presentation to Edward James Olmos

Join the Santa Fe International Film Festival for the Lifetime Achievement Award presentation to iconic actor and activist Edward James Olmos, followed by a special discussion and a screening of “Stand and Deliver” (1988) on Saturday, October 18th.
A powerhouse of talent and a pioneer for Latino representation in Hollywood, Olmos has captivated audiences for more than five decades. He is perhaps best known for his Oscar®-nominated performance as real-life educator Jaime Escalante in “Stand and Deliver” (1988), a role that continues to inspire generations. He earned an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe for his portrayal of Lt. Martin Castillo in “Miami Vice” (1984-1989). He also portrayed Abraham Quintanilla, the father of Tejano music icon Selena, in “Selena” (1997), starring Jennifer Lopez in the breakout role that launched her acting career. Other notable credits include the films “The Ballad of Gregorio Cortez” (1982) and “American Me” (1992), the latter of which Olmos produced and directed.
