Las Cafeteras Presents: Vivan Los Muertos (Las Vegas)

Don’t miss this free community concert in Las Vegas, New Mexico! Vivan Los Muertos by Las Cafeteras brings to life the rich traditions, folklore, and art of Día de los Muertos. This engaging presentation introduces key elements of Día de los Muertos through music, dance, poetry, and costumes from their full-stage production Hasta La Muerte: A Day of the Dead Show.
Born and raised east of the Los Angeles River, Las Cafeteras are remixing roots music as modern-day troubadours. They are a sonic explosion of Afro-Mexican rhythms, electronic beats, and powerful rhymes that document stories of a community seeking to ‘build a world where many worlds fit.’ From Afro-Mexican to Americana, from soul to Son Jarocho, from roots to rock and hip hop, Las Cafeteras take folk music to the future.
Vivan Los Muertos is a vibrant, interactive experience that will inspire and resonate long after the performance ends. This presentation is part of the Lensic Performing Arts Center’s Rural Residency, an initiative to bring the arts to communities throughout New Mexico. In addition to this performance, Vivan Los Muertos will be performed in Taos in a free community concert on October 24.
