School shows at The Lensic were canceled this year, but we still want to give our young people the opportunity to perform on The Lensic stage. Working with the schools, we’ve invited local students to bring their talent to The Lensic in a safe, socially distanced recording sessions. Our Student Showcase series brings some of the top young talent to the stage, and to you!

Marjorie Rezendes, Santa Fe High School
Marjorie Rezendes is a talented vocalist and senior at Santa Fe High School. Here, accompanied on piano by Scott Hagler, she performs Alessandro Parisottis “Se Tu M’ami.” Brava!

Lynette Gassner, New Mexico School for the Arts
Lynette Gassner is a senior at New Mexico School for the Arts and an accomplished musician. Here, she performs Bach’s Cello Suite No. 1, Sarabande, with piano accompaniment by Robert Krupnick.

Amelie Piburn, Santa Fe High School
Amelie Piburn, who attends Santa Fe High School, brings us a beautiful performance of “I Will Be Earth,” a song by Gwyneth Walker that sets to music a poem by May Swenson.

Sheyenne Hoskisson, Santa Fe High School
Sheyenne Hoskisson, a student at Santa Fe High School, performs a beautiful rendition of “Für Musik,” by 19th-century German composer Robert Franz.

Davin Montoya, Santa Fe High School
This week we bring you another amazing student percussionist: Davin Montoya, a senior at Santa Fe High School. Here he performs on the marimba and, next, on snare drum. Bravo!

Jared Elledge, St. Michael's High School
Jared Elledge, a student at St. Michael’s High School, is a wonderful percussionist. Here, he plays “Strive to Be Happy” on the marimba—and it makes us happy, indeed.

Jack Smucker, Rio Grande School
In this beautiful cello performance, Jack Smucker performs Bach’s Cello Suite No. 1 in G Major. Jack, whose whole family is musical, is in the fourth grade at Rio Grande School.

Chloe Gessler, El Dorado Community School
Chloe Gessler, who attends El Dorado Community School, plays clarinet. Here, she performs two songs by Austrian composer Joseph Haydn: “St. Anthony’s Chorale” and “Rondo.” Thank you, Chloe, for sharing your talents and wonderful at-home stage presence!

Abigail Frey, El Dorado Community School
Talented young flutist Abigail Frey recorded her Student Showcase session at home earlier this summer, after finishing seventh grade at El Dorado Community School. Here, she plays “Rondeau,” by Friedrich Wilhelm Marpurg.

Rachel Anderson, Santa Fe High
Rachel Anderson, a soprano who attends Santa Fe High School, recorded a Student Showcase at The Lensic earlier this year. Her performance of “Con Amores, la Mi Madre,” by Fernando Obradors, is beautiful. She is accompanied by Kathlene Ritch on piano.

Casey Standridge, a talented recent graduate of Mandela International Magnet School, brings us a wonderful performance: “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” “I Dreamed a Dream,” and “If I Loved You.”

Mackenzie Gunter, a talented student in the Santa Fe Public Schools, recorded this sweet version of “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid. She is accompanied by Cora Harms on the piano. Lovely!

Dominico Lovato (Santa Fe High School) has a beautiful tenor voice. Here, he performs “To the Sky,” by Carl Strommen. Kathlene Ritch plays piano to accompany him. Bravo, Dominico!

Madison Vollmer is a recent graduate of Santa Fe High School, where she was active in choir, drama, and dance. For our Student Showcase series, she performs “Roxie,” from the hit musical Chicago.

Meet Maya Harris! Maya is a talented young flautist who plays in the band at El Dorado Community School. Here, in a performance recorded at home, she plays Bach’s Polonaise.

Andrew Bornman Santa Fe High School
Everything’s up to date in Kansas City! This lively performance of “Kansas City,” from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Oklahoma, features Andrew Bornman, who recently graduated from Santa Fe High School. Great job, Andrew!

The Hagele FamilySanta Fe Schools
Meet the Hageles! Sam, Michael Jr., Will, and Claire are Santa Fe siblings who share a love of music and plenty of talent. Here, the Hageles perform an original song with lyrics written by their mom and music composed by Sam. After that comes a Beatles classic!

Satya KutskoNMSA
Satya Kutsko, who’ll be a sophomore at New Mexico School for the Arts this fall, brings us her piano and vocal talents, along with some amazing stage presence! Satya performs songs by Elton John, My Chemical Romance, and more.

Nathan Kingston El Dorado Community School
Nathan Kingston is back, this time solo! Well, solo x 5: In this at-home recording, he plays five different saxophone parts in a one-man-band rendition of New Orleans favorite “When the Saints Go Marching In.” Nathan is a student at El Dorado Community School.

Aundria Cohen Santa Fe High School
Aundria Cohen (Santa Fe High School) performs “Bel Piacere” from Handel’s Agrippina. She is accompanied by pianist Kathlene Ritch.

Audrie Ellsworth, Academy of Technology and the Classics
Talented Audrie Ellsworth is a seventh grader at the Academy of Technology and the Classics. Here, she dances to “The Moral of the Story,” by Ashe.

Madelyn and Nathan Kingston with Andy Kingston
It’s a family affair for the Kingstons, who recorded their Student Showcase at home. Here, Madelyn (New Mexico School for the Arts) plays violin and sings, and Nathan (El Dorado Community School) plays alto sax. They’re backed up their father, Andy, a faculty member at St. John’s College and an accomplished jazz musician.

Rebecca Jimenez is a senior and member of the choir at Santa Fe High School. She plans to study musical theater in college next year. Here, Rebecca sings “Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again,” from Phantom of the Opera. She is accompanied by local musician Kathlene Ritch.
