2020 in Review

In an unprecedented year, you helped us do remarkable things for our community.
While our doors were shuttered due to the pandemic, and without revenue from ticket sales and theater rental, your support enabled The Lensic to continue its mission.
We thank you, Lensic supporters, for making all the following possible.

Performance
Although we couldn’t be together at The Lensic, we shared 13 digital performances, from magic and comedy to blues and Celtic fiddle.
More than 600 households from Amsterdam to Alaska tuned in for our special virtual concert with blues icon Keb’ Mo’.
We presented four free Lensic Artist Spotlight programs, providing insight into the artistic process. Special guests included award-winning actors F. Murray Abraham and Jim Dale, iconic ballet dancer Jock Soto, and Broadway songwriter Nathan Tysen and playwright/lyricist Kait Kerrigan.

Education
Twenty-two young performers were spotlighted in our Student Showcase series, viewed more than 6,400 times on YouTube.
9,600+ K–6 students in Santa Fe and Rio Arriba counties viewed Sugar Skull: A Dia de Los Muertos Musical and learned about the cultural holiday.
Magician/autism educator Kevin Spencer virtually visited 17 high-needs classrooms, engaging kids with autism and learning differences at a time of isolation.
Our Future Voices Awards Ceremony, celebrating films and photos by New Mexico high school students, was held virtually. 53 awards were presented.

Community
Lensic Ghost Light Sessions featured and supported 35 local artists who lost the opportunity to perform live during the pandemic. Celebrating genres from classical to alternative, these performances have been viewed more than 13,600 times on YouTube.
The Lensic partnered with local nonprofit Reading Quest to film student performances for their Song, Rap, and Poem Contest Celebration.
Joe Illick helped us celebrate the holiday season and say goodbye to 2020 with two free community concerts featuring classical musicians and singers from around the globe.
