Third Coast Percussion: Ripples in the Water
Third Coast Percussion is a Chicago-based Grammy Award-winning percussion quartet and composer collective known for redefining the classical music experience. Since forming in 2005, the ensemble has earned seven Grammy nominations and made history as the first percussion group to win in a classical category. Celebrated for its inventive programming and dynamic performances, TCP collaborates across disciplines with leading composers, choreographers, and performers, creating bold, genre-blurring work that expands the possibilities of percussion.
As composer Philip Glass turns 90 in 2027, TCP honors his tremendous impact on contemporary music. The enchanting works presented in this program, including a 2018 commission Glass wrote for TCP, his first ever for a percussion ensemble, bring focus to Glass’ gorgeous harmonic vocabulary, performed on an array of traditional and unexpected percussion instruments.
