Flamenco Residency

This education program is an exciting collaboration with EmiArteFlamenco and the Santa Fe Public Schools 21st Century Community Learning Centers. During these three-week bilingual residencies, students learn about the history and culture of flamenco through singing, dancing, and guitar. Each residency culminates in a performance at the Lensic, where students perform what they learned alongside professional artists from EmiArteFlamenco for their teachers and families.

“Our students got to experience something that a lot of them don’t have the resources to experience outside of school. Kids who don’t get to play sports outside of school or be a part of the arts, especially the arts because that tends to be a little bit more pricey when it comes to out-of-school time programs, had access to participate in something totally new to them. And it opened doors that I think will forever change a lot of the lives in our community. We have kids now who are figuring out dance lessons and starting to play music and all that just because they were opened up to it at school for the first time. It was incredible.”
