For over 70 years, Ballet Folklórico de México has served as a cultural ambassador, captivating audiences with the beauty of Mexico from its Columbian and Spanish influences through to modern day. A cast of over 70 will dazzle you with original choreography, elaborate costumes, and unforgettable performances.
Amalia Hernández founded the company in 1952 and has since become recognized as a cultural touchstone in Mexico. From a very young age, Hernández began a journey through Mexican culture that would lead her to rescue the country’s traditional dances. She has shown the world the beauty of Mexico through movement, from pre-Columbian cultures and Spanish influences to the revolutionary times.
With more than 30 million spectators and countless recognitions, Amalia Hernández’s artistic legacy remains intact thanks to the more than 120 original choreographies with great technical difficulty, elaborate typical costumes, and first-rate artists.
